What the B-Rad Foundation means to me:

When I lost my best friend and the love of my life Brad, I thought that life had suddenly been rendered meaningless. In those dark moments, I was faced with a choice: run from the fear of death and lash out against the world playing victim to circumstance OR stay mindful and present and lean into the fear and agony of losing such a precious being. I asked myself continually, "Can we do something more powerful to grieve with purpose and intention?" I've found there are so few things that offer relief from suffering, but I can tell you with all the truth that I know in this body, that being in service to others is one of the most powerfully healing and meaningful ways to navigate through grief. I want to do positive, heartfelt work that matters because that's what Brad would do. It's how love wins out in the end, and for me, it's the only way.

Our B-Rad climbing and leadership program has been created for kids who would never get an opportunity to climb mountains, sit around a campfire, or look up at the night sky and wonder at the enormity of the universe or be humbled by the magnificence of nature. Brad was constantly seeking refuge and inspiration in the natural world and it is out greatest honor to provide that for others. My deepest hope is that many many lives will be touched because of Brad's time on earth, and that his spirit will guide our efforts to create stewards of the environment, more socially and environmentally conscious youth, and unite communities in projects that matter.

"I hope it is true that a man can die and yet not only live in others, but give them life, and not only life, but that great consciousness of life." - Jack Kerouac
